In October 2022 I thought my Volvo 940 GLE Automatic had reached the end of the road.  There was a fault with the ABS and the date of the MOT was fast approaching.  One garage tried and failed to repair the fault, a “specialist” auto electrics company did not want to even attempt a repair and the Volvo dealer in Wakefield told me they no longer had the computer software to diagnose the fault.

I posted a message seeking help on a Volvo Facebook group.  A member responded advising me to contact Gary White at John Holland Car Sales in Sheffield.  I was unable to speak with Gary when I telephoned the garage, as he was out with a customer’s car, but I was able to book the car in for examination.

I live in Normanton.  Fortunately there is a good train service between Meadowhall (which is close to John Holland Car Sales) and Normanton.  I left my Volvo at the garage, the day before it was booked in, expecting Gary to start work on it the following day.  I was on the train about halfway through my journey when my phone rang.  It was Gary calling to tell me that he had found the cause of the fault and that it would be easy to fix.  What amazing customer service!

Fantastic specialist garage
Had issues with my volvo xc90 that other garages very expensively wrongly diagnosed, so after John Holland was recommended to me, they correctly diagnosed the fault and repaired with no issues.

Had a great experience with John Holland Service, had my 2009 XC70 in for a full service, rear bushes and a reconditioned steering rack. Really competitive quote (Volvo main dealers didn’t even bother responding) they had the car for a week and even had a courtesy car whilst mine was in. Gary kept me updated and even managed to fit 4 new tyres when I decided to order a set delivered to the garage halfway through the job.
